Flood Alert in Hoi An 2025

Rising Water Levels in Hoi An: Situation Update

Water levels began rising this morning in Hoi An, but the situation remains under control. At the moment, only one street is affected: Bach Dang, the riverside road along the port. This area is known for being one of the first to flood during heavy rain or when the river level rises.

The rest of the Ancient Town is fully accessible: pedestrian streets, shopping areas, and tourist lanes are all unaffected. Activities continue as usual, shops remain open, and traffic is moving normally.

In Hoi An, this type of flooding is common and localized, especially around the port area. Authorities are monitoring the situation, and there are no signs of worsening conditions for now.

  1. Are there volunteer opportunities for people to help with clean-up and repair or renovate? I will likely be there around February and would happily lend a hand for a week or so.

  2. Hi, do you think it is safe to travel to Hoi an tomorrow ? How is the weather today? Is there a lot of rain?
We were thinking flying to Hoi an on December first but we won’t if a lot of rain is on the forecast
    Thank you

  3. Hi! Are there floods to be expected with the typhoon Kato? We are thinking if we should fly there tomorrow or postpone the trip.
    Thank you!

  4. Hi, I am booked at Laluna Riverside 23-27 Nov. Will the hotel be accessible coming to/from Danang Airport? I hope there are still enough places around it for us to visit. I understand old town may be flooded still.
    Thank you.

  5. Hi, I am planning to visit Hoi An on the 22 Nov. Is it safe to visit? Also, will business and places be open or likely to be closed due to the flooding now?

  6. Does anyone know if the flood conditions are expected to worsen or improve over the next day? Is there similar flooding in Da Nang or Hue? We are currently surrounded by about 1metre of water on the street of our accomodation in Hoi An. We are supposed to leave for Hue tomorrow but considering going somewhere else due to some report of floods there but unsure if it’s in the main city area or not. We are also unsure of the best and safest way to leave. Thank you

    1. Unless there is an unpleasant surprise, the water level should drop in Hoi An unless a dam is opened, and it has dropped in Hue.

      1. I planned this trip mainly to visit Hoi An. We waded through flood waters earlier today and are now in Da Nang. It’s 6 PM November 18. Have the waters receded? Do you think we can plan a day trip on Thursday afternoon? Thanks!

      2. The water levels haven’t changed since yesterday. They remain high but not catastrophic, except for visits to the old town.

  7. Hello, I am planning to come on Nov 18-21 but it looks like flooding is forecasted again – will it be safe to visit during that time?

  8. Just want to check is Tran Hung Dao street effected by flooding? Planning to stay there towards the end of this week. Also do you know if Typhoon Kalmaegi is likely to cause any more flooding in Hoi An.

  9. Does anyone know if Nguyen Du street was affected? We are planning to be there at the end of the week, staying at Thanh Binh Riverside Hoi An. Weather forecasts say between 65-85% chance of rain on the days we will be there, and I’m contemplating of if I should book a different hotel that’s more inland

  10. Hi,

Thank you for all your hard work keeping up the page running and up-to-date.

We are arriving tomorrow to Hoi An and staying on the An Hoi island. Do you have any recommendations on what to do in our situation?

    Thank you!

    1. Flooding is quite unpredictable, but it’s mainly in the old town around the port.

During the day, it’s fine, but in the evening, the water can rise.

No issues in the rest of Hoi An or for visiting the surrounding areas, such as the My Son Sanctuary and other attractions.
