Train from Da Nang to Quy Nhon
This is the option I recommend if you’re looking for a good balance between comfort and price. The train runs from Da Nang to Dieu Tri Station, which is about 10 kilometers from Quy Nhon. You’ll need to take a taxi or Grab to reach the city center (about 30 minutes).
- Duration: between 6h30 and 8h, depending on the train
- Price: between 200,000 and 600,000 VND, depending on the class
- Comfort:
- Hard seats = not ideal for a long journey
- Soft sleepers = much better, especially for early or late departures
Good to know: Trains in Vietnam are usually on time, which is already a win. I personally took a 4-berth sleeper, and it allowed me to read, eat a bit, and enjoy the scenery without stress.
✅ My tip: avoid the standard seats unless you’re really on a tight budget. For just a little more, the sleeper makes a huge difference.

Bus from Da Nang to Quy Nhon
If you’re looking for a cheap option, overnight sleeper buses are one way to go. Several companies operate this route, like An Phu Travel or Queen Cafe. Most of the time, you’ll be in a sleeper bus with reclined beds at around a 45° angle-not real beds, but enough to get some rest.
- Duration: between 7 and 9 hours, depending on traffic and stops
- Price: between 280,000 VND and 600,000 VND
- Comfort:
- Some buses are in decent condition, others are pretty worn out
- Aircon is usually blasting, so bring a light blanket or sweatshirt
- Toilet stops can be random, better to plan ahead
✅ My tip: I no longer recommend the bus as a reliable means of transport in Vietnam-especially on this route, where you’ll find some of the worst bus companies in the country.
If you do go for it, book through Vexere or 12go.asia to avoid inflated prices or shady sales agents.
Flight from Da Nang to Quy Nhon
There are no direct flights between Da Nang and Quy Nhon. To fly, you’ll need to make a stopover in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, which increases both the duration and cost. For a distance of just 320 km, it’s really not worth it.
- Total duration: between 5 and 8 hours, including transfers and waiting time
- Price: starts at 1,000,000 VND, but can go up quickly depending on timing
- Airports: Departure from Da Nang (DAD) → stopover → Arrival in Quy Nhon (UIH)
❌ My opinion: Unless you’re connecting it with a long-haul international flight or have a very specific reason, flying this route is not worth it. Too much time lost for very little gain.
Motorbike or Private Car from Da Nang to Quy Nhon
If you prefer to go at your own pace, you can travel from Da Nang to Quy Nhon by private car or motorbike. The route often follows the coast, with beautiful scenery, especially between Tam Ky and Sa Huynh. That said, not all sections are smooth-some roads are in poor condition, so stay alert.
- Distance: about 320 km
- Travel time: between 6 and 8 hours, depending on traffic and stops
- Options:
- Private car with driver – convenient if you’re traveling with others
- Motorbike rental – doable, but long and tiring
✅ My opinion: This is a great choice only if you want to explore along the way-like Tam Ky, Bai Xep, or Sa Huynh. If you’re in a road trip mood, it can be a cool experience.
But if you’re just trying to get from point A to point B, other options are simpler.
For the best private car prices, I recommend Hoi An Transport Service-they usually offer the most competitive rates.
Private Car Prices from Da Nang to Quy Nhon
Vehicle Type | Price |
---|---|
4-seater car | 4,000,000 VND |
7-seater car | 4,200,000 VND |
✅ What I Recommend
If you’re looking for the best balance between price, comfort, and ease, I clearly recommend taking the train. Go for a soft sleeper (4 or 6 berths) during the day or early evening-you’ll get to Quy Nhon without stress.
As for the bus, I’ve tried it… and I don’t recommend it anymore. It’s unpredictable, uncomfortable, with the A/C blasting all night, drivers smoking, using their phones while driving, and honking constantly-no thanks.
Flying? It’s a waste of time for this route. Unless you have a very specific reason, there’s no point adding a stopover in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City just to cover 320 km.
That said, if you’ve got some time and feel like exploring a bit on the way, a private car with driver can be a great alternative-especially if you’re traveling in a group. Motorbike is doable, but long and tiring.
In short:
Private car = great if you want to explore
Train = the simplest and most reliable
Bus = only if you really have no other option
Plane = not worth it
My Opinion
I’ve done this trip several times, and in my experience, two options clearly stand out: the train and the private car.
The train is easy, affordable, and comfortable if you book a soft sleeper. No stress, no shaking, and you arrive relaxed in Dieu Tri.
But if you’ve got a bit more budget and you’re traveling as a couple or with friends, a private car is ideal. You leave when you want, stop wherever you like, and the ride is smooth. Plus, it’s a great way to see the scenery without wearing yourself out.
As for the bus, I don’t take it anymore. It’s too unpredictable, not comfortable, freezing cold… just not worth the hassle.
And the plane, with the required stopover, is honestly a waste of time.
Bottom line: Go for the train or private car, depending on your budget and how flexible you want to be. Everything else is a backup plan at best.
