Digital Nomads | Where to Work in Hoi An?
Hoi An is more than just a charming city with its lanterns and peaceful vibe. It’s also a perfect place to work online, and I speak from experience! As an expat living here, I manage my blog while enjoying this inspiring setting. Whether you’re a digital nomad passing through or settling in for a while, finding the right place to work is essential. Between cozy cafés and welcoming coworking spaces, Hoi An has plenty to offer. Let me share my favorite spots to combine productive work with the joy of living here.
Why Hoi An is Ideal for Digital Nomads
Working in Hoi An means enjoying a unique setting that blends tranquility with vibrancy. The city offers an affordable cost of living, reliable internet (yes, even in the depths of its cafés!), and a growing community of online workers—though it’s far from cities like Chiang Mai in terms of scale. Add to that nearby beaches, a charming old town, and delicious local cuisine, and you have the perfect recipe for working while savoring life. It’s not just a place to work; it’s a place that inspires and makes you want to stay longer.
The Best Places to Work Online in Hoi An
Your ideal work spot depends on your work style. If you enjoy a quiet, structured environment, coworking spaces are a perfect choice: fast WiFi, comfortable seating, and often a friendly community for networking. If, like me, you prefer working with a coffee in hand and some background music, Hoi An’s many cafés are ideal.
The key is to find a place where you feel comfortable, with a stable internet connection and an atmosphere that boosts your productivity. Luckily, Hoi An has plenty to offer, catering to all tastes.

SnapStay
• Address: 16 Thai Phien – Hoi An | Hours: 8 AM – 6 PM
SnapStay is much more than just a café; it’s a hybrid space combining a social hostel, coworking area, and community hub. Founded in 2020 by Ernest Quek, a passionate Singaporean, this venue has quickly become a go-to spot for digital nomads and travelers passing through Hoi An. With its friendly, relaxed, and calm atmosphere, SnapStay provides the perfect environment to work while soaking up the local culture.
Located just 250 meters from the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town, SnapStay boasts a strategic location. Its modern and air-conditioned space (a true lifesaver during the sweltering 40-degree summer days) is designed to meet everyone’s needs—whether for quiet work sessions, informal meetings, or a well-earned moment of relaxation.
SnapStay is also a place where connections come alive. Whether you’re a digital nomad, a solo traveler, or part of a small group, you’ll find a warm atmosphere conducive to interaction. Its perfect balance of productivity and socialization makes it a must-visit for those looking to work while fully embracing the unique experience of Hoi An.
Mia Coffee
• Address: 20 Phan Boi Chau – Hoi An | Hours: 6 AM – 5 PM
Mia Coffee is an expat-friendly café ideal for those seeking a quiet and comfortable place to work. While the Wi-Fi isn’t the fastest in Hoi An (the router is upstairs in the back room), the café more than makes up for it with its practicality and charm.
For maximum productivity, head to the second floor, especially in the afternoon when the atmosphere is quieter. This area is equipped with plenty of power outlets, several fans to keep the space cool, and pleasant natural lighting—making it a perfect spot to get work done.
The menu, though limited, offers everything you need for a pleasant break: excellent coffee, homemade pastries, and a few delicious sandwiches to recharge your energy.
However, keep in mind that Mia Coffee is one of the most popular cafés in town. Mornings, in particular, can get busy, which might be distracting if you’re sensitive to noise. Despite this, Mia Coffee remains a charming spot for those who enjoy working in an inspiring and local setting.
FineAqua
• Address: 137 Nguyen Duy Hieu – Hoi An | Hours: 7 AM – 6 PM
A true favorite of 2024.
Located by the river, this café has become my daily workspace. Like Mia Coffee, it’s not a traditional coworking space, but its peaceful atmosphere and reliable Wi-Fi make it an ideal spot for working. What I particularly appreciate is that every table has a power outlet—an absolute luxury for digital nomads—and the seating is comfortable, which is a nice bonus.
If you need even more quiet, a dedicated room offers an even more studious environment, though the café itself is already relatively calm. Its slightly off-center location attracts mainly expats like myself and locals, creating a serene atmosphere.
U Café
• Address: 120 Huyen Tran Cong Chua – Hoi An | Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM (Closed on Wednesdays)
U Café is a hidden gem in Hội An, just outside the Old Town, offering stunning river views. This unique spot, created by a Japanese expat living in Vietnam, provides a zen and peaceful ambiance that contrasts with the city’s hustle and bustle. Upon entering, you’re greeted by lush greenery: ponds and plants that add a touch of natural charm.
With three floors, each designed as an oasis, U Café provides ample seating for you to work comfortably in a relaxed atmosphere. The Wi-Fi is reliable, essential for staying productive, and the menu, focused on Vietnamese cuisine, perfectly complements the experience. The only downside is the lack of air conditioning, and the wooden seats can make long work sessions less comfortable.
However, if you’re looking for a quiet place to work while enjoying an idyllic setting, U Café is a must-visit.
My Opinion
As someone who primarily works on my website and doesn’t need a super-fast connection, I’m not a huge fan of coworking spaces. However, I truly enjoyed Hub Hoi An for its sense of community and excellent workspace, which is arguably the best—and only—coworking space in Hoi An.
That said, I mainly work at Mia Coffee, a spot I discovered early on. Its biggest drawback is its unreliable Wi-Fi, which limits its use to light online tasks, such as website management in my case.
Finally, SnapStay is a real gem among Hoi An’s coworking spaces, offering a warm ambiance and practicality.
