Sunrise SUP in Da Nang | My Experience
Waking up at 5 a.m. wasn’t exactly how I imagined starting my day… but I don’t regret it for a second. I went for a stand-up paddle (SUP) session on My Khe Beach in Da Nang, and honestly, it was a great experience. Calm sea, golden light, no crowds, a real moment of peace, no fuss.
Whether you’re athletic or not at all, a total beginner or already comfortable on a board, morning SUP in Da Nang is accessible to everyone. And it’s a nice break from the usual tourist stuff. Here’s how it works, how much it costs, and why I’d recommend giving it a try at least once.
Why is Morning the Best Time for SUP in Da Nang?

Simple: everything is calmer in the morning. The sea is flat, there’s barely any wind, and the beach is still empty. That’s when the experience really becomes enjoyable, especially if it’s your first time.
And above all, there’s the sunrise. Paddling while the sky shifts from black to orange to blue feels pretty special. Honestly, even if you’re not the type to be easily impressed, it’s a moment that sticks with you. And if you like taking photos, you’ll have plenty to shoot.
It’s also the coolest part of the day. After 8 a.m., the sun starts to hit hard and the beach gets crowded. So if you’re after a peaceful activity, the 5:30–7:30 a.m. slot is ideal. You start your day in the water, with golden light all around and the whole morning ahead of you.

What to Expect During a SUP Session in Da Nang
5:30 a.m. – Meeting at the shop
The meeting point is a small SUP shop near My Khe Beach. It’s still a bit dark at that time, but the atmosphere is peaceful. You get a locker for your stuff, and the instructor gives you a short but clear briefing.
They show you how to get on the board, how to use the paddle, and most importantly, what to do if you lose your balance (it can happen, nothing dramatic). No pressure, no technical jargon, it’s clear and simple, even if you don’t speak much English.

6:00 a.m. – On the water
Once the boards are ready, we head down to the beach. Quick group photo with the sunrise in the background, then into the water, no rush.
We paddle out towards a small rocky islet, visible from the shore. The water is calm, the sun is rising slowly, and honestly, it’s beautiful. You can paddle, stop, chat, just take it all in. Depending on the season, you might spot some fish, and they even lend out snorkeling masks if you want to take a little dip.

7:30 a.m. – Back to shore, shower & photos
After about an hour on the water, we head back to the beach, slow pace, no race, just cruising.
Once you’re back, you can rinse off, get changed, and grab some water. Then the staff sends you the photos and videos they took during the session. They actually take quite a few, and they do a good job, no need to carry your own gear if you don’t want to.
And that’s it, in two hours, you’ve started your day calmly, in the sea, with the sunrise as a bonus.

SUP in Da Nang: How Much Does It Cost and How to Book?
The Price
The pricing is simple: 300,000 VND per board, which is around 11 €. And since two people can share one board, it comes down to about 5–6 € each if you go with a friend or partner. For two hours of a guided activity, it’s more than fair.
Everything is included: board, paddle, life jacket, instructor, photos, and videos. No hidden fees, no surprises and that’s always appreciated.
You pay on-site in cash (Vietnamese dong), so make sure to bring the right amount in advance.
How to Book
Super easy as well. Just add the number +84 905 080 010 on WhatsApp, Zalo, or go through their website: https://supdanang.com/en/. Send them a message (even simple English is fine), and lock in your session.
Just mention:
- Your preferred date
- How many people are joining
- How many boards you need
- And that you’d like to do sunrise SUP
They usually respond quickly, are super friendly, and will send you the exact location and all the practical info. You can book the day before if there’s space left, or a few days in advance if you want to be sure.

What to Bring for Your SUP Experience
Stand-up paddleboarding is simple, but to avoid any last-minute issues, it’s better to come a bit prepared. Here’s what you should have with you:
What to pack:
- Swimsuit (wear it when you arrive, it saves time)
- Towel
- Change of clothes + dry underwear
- Sunscreen (arms, legs, neck, ears…)
- A small bag or plastic bag for your wet stuff
The shop has showers and changing cabins, so there’s no need to go anywhere else afterward. You can also leave your flip-flops at the shop and walk barefoot to the beach, it’s easier.
Phone & Photos
They lend you a waterproof pouch for your phone, which hangs around your neck, so you can take photos or videos while paddling.
If you’d rather not carry anything, the staff also takes pictures of the group, so you can just enjoy the moment and still get nice memories.
Sun = Protection
Even early in the morning, the sun hits hard in Da Nang. Apply sunscreen before you arrive, and again on-site, especially if you have fair skin.
Avoid wearing hats or sunglasses during the activity, they fall off easily with the wind and water, and you might not get them back.
My Opinion
Honestly, I loved it. It’s one of the best ways to start your day in Da Nang. No crowds, no noise. just the calm sea, the morning light, and a board under your feet. It’s relaxing without being boring, physical without being exhausting.
Even if you’ve never tried SUP before, it’s totally doable. The team is professional, the instructions are clear, and the atmosphere is super chill. I don’t speak Vietnamese, and my English is basic, but everything went smoothly.
The value for money is excellent, especially if you go two people on one board. And that golden light over the sea at sunrise… it’s something I won’t forget.
If you’re visiting Da Nang, enjoy off-the-beaten-path activities, and want a peaceful start to your day, go for it. It’s simple, smooth, and genuinely enjoyable.
