The Best Spas in Hoi An | Prices & Tips
Where to Get a Massage/Spa in Hoi An?
“No massage = no vacation” is the message you’ll see on the signs of countless spas in Hoi An.
Upon arriving in Hoi An, you’ll be surprised by the number of spas and massage centers occupying every street corner.
On Trip Advisor, you can see that there are over 150 spa listings. However, hundreds more are not listed. The selection is vast, with a wide range of prices and quality. It’s important to note that sophisticated advertising, high rates, or five-star reviews do not necessarily guarantee a quality spa experience.
Make no mistake, online reviews can be misleading. Unfortunately, it is common for search results to be influenced by fake comments and paid services. Moreover, simple furniture or an uncharming interior does not necessarily mean that the spa experience will be disappointing. The most unassuming establishments often offer the best massages.
Options, Products, and Value-Added Services
Spas in Hoi An mainly offer various body therapies, foot massages, and nail care. Some also provide facial treatments, waxing, herbal steam baths or saunas, hair treatments, and laser hair removal.
However, be cautious, as most facial care products contain whitening agents, due to the craze for fair skin in Asian culture. Nevertheless, most high-end spas and qualified therapists will be aware of this and will offer treatments suitable for their clients. Make sure to inquire about the composition of the products you use and check the ingredients.
Many use low-grade products from China.
Good to know
Most spas do not have trained and full-time staff
This means that if you arrive at a spa and they have no one available, they might call someone from their family (a cousin, grandma, etc.) or a friend who has no specific training. Given that training is generally poor in most spas, getting a massage from someone untrained is the worst experience you can have.
If a tourist has recommended a particular spa, ask them for the name of the person to ensure continuity of care.
Why Not Just Choose Any Spa:
- They do not change the towel you lie on, nor the one where you rest your head.
- Moreover, they use an oil based on tiger balm, which can cause allergies.
Prices for a Massage in Hoi An
To give you an idea of spa prices, I’ve taken a standard 60-minute massage as a reference.
For a 60-minute massage, expect to pay:
- €10 to €15 for low-end
- €15 to €20 for mid-range
- €30 to €50 for high-end
Best Spas in Hoi An
1. Citrus Spa
- Address: 180 Ly Thai To – Hoi An
- Hours: 10 am – 8 pm
- Website: https://citrushealthspahoian.com/
Opened in 2016, as you enter this spa, the fruity aroma, Buddhist music, and the natural wood-themed exterior draw you into a deep state of relaxation.
Located in a bright yellow house, the citrus theme is not only incorporated in its aesthetics but also consistently in their complimentary snacks and spa ingredients. The spa swears by the natural powers of citrus to detoxify, heal, boost your immune system, and enhance your mood.
Indulge your senses in a haven of 100% natural ingredients at Citrus Spa, some of which can even be found hanging in their backyard garden! Although they primarily use their own products, Citrus Spa also imports the French spa range “Rendez-vous.”
The spa houses highly qualified therapists who can communicate with you in English. Ms. Van has over 16 years of experience in the spa industry, having previously set up some of the most luxurious spa centers in Asia, so expect to be in good hands.
Despite being very cozy, this spa houses seven rooms. Have kids? Bring them along as the spa also offers treatments for them.
If you need to release some tension, improve your circulation, or even just clear energy blockages, we suggest treating yourself to a 60-minute traditional Vietnamese massage for only 360,000 VND (€14). Several aromatherapy options are available. The benefits and therapeutic properties of these essential oils are incredible. This massage is performed using palm, elbow, and thumb techniques. Prepare yourself because a treatment at this spa leaves your senses singing in ecstasy.
Don’t limit yourself to just a massage because Citrus Spa offers a wide range of services: facials 400,000 VND – 480,000 VND (€16 – €19), manicures 170,000 VND (€7), and waxing 120,000 VND – 390,000 VND (€5 – €15). A heavenly experience for all your senses!
2. Five Senses Spa
- Address: 14 Phan Boi Chau – Hoi An
- Hours: 7 am – 11 pm
- Website: https://fivesenseshoian.com/
Five Senses Spa offers high-quality services at affordable prices in a professional setting.
Compared to other spas in Hoi An (excluding resort spas), Five Senses ranks at the top. Faux wood floors, bamboo ceilings, and an indoor green wall create a welcoming ambiance, accompanied by soothing music and a delicious scent.
Quyen, the owner, employs an all-female team consisting of 12 therapists and three receptionists. All therapists have considerable experience and are highly qualified. But it’s the personal touch that really interests Quyen. She is at the salon seven days a week and is available to greet and chat with clients.
Their list of treatments covers the full range: massages, facials, waxing, threading, body scrubs, body wraps, manicures, pedicures, foot exfoliation, and hair services. You can choose from a wide range of massages, including hot stone, body therapy, aromatherapy, and even prenatal.
Don’t expect some of the luxury five-star elements available in some resort spas. There are no bathrobes, fluffy slippers, but the service is always excellent. Their best-seller is the signature Five Senses Spa package, which includes a massage, a facial, and a third treatment of your choice. 90 minutes: 660,000 VND (€26) 120 minutes: 880,000 VND (€35). This package offers excellent value for money, and any time spent here will not be regretted.
Pandanus Spa

My Opinion
If you see the phrase “No Massage = No Holiday,” really run away. You know that the spa has no identity and is just copying a phrase that you can find in at least 50 spas in Hoi An.
If I had to choose just one, it would be Citrus Spa, which for me, is the number one in Hoi An due to the quality of its products.
