Da Nang Downtown ( Asia Park ) and Sun Wheel | My Review
If you’re in Da Nang, you’ve probably seen the Sun Wheel, the city’s iconic giant Ferris wheel. It proudly stands at the heart of Da Nang Downtown (formerly Asia Park), a family-friendly amusement park offering a variety of outdoor activities and attractions.
So, what is Da Nang Downtown really worth?
About Da Nang Downtown (Asia Park) in Da Nang
Renamed Da Nang Downtown in June 2024, Asia Park is an iconic theme park located in the heart of Da Nang. Open since 2014, the park highlights Asian cultures through a mix of entertainment and family activities.
Spanning nearly 870,000 m², Asia Park was designed by the renowned architect Bill Bensley, celebrated for prestigious projects like the InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort. The meticulous attention to detail makes this park a visually striking destination where modernity and Asian traditions beautifully blend.
From afar, the most recognizable symbol of Asia Park is undoubtedly the Sun Wheel, a spectacular Ferris wheel that ranks among the tallest in the world. This marvel of engineering transforms Da Nang’s skyline and draws visitors eager for unforgettable panoramic views.
Opening Hours for Da Nang Downtown (formerly Asia Park) in Da Nang
The Da Nang Downtown amusement park is open every day from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, but note that attractions close at 9:00 PM, with only the Sun Wheel remaining open until 10:00 PM.
Most attractions begin operating at 5:30 PM, so I wouldn’t recommend arriving right at 3:00 PM.
The Sun Wheel remains the standout attraction among the 20 rides and activities offered at the park. Unique in the region, it delivers an exceptional experience you won’t find anywhere else in Da Nang.

My Review
I had the opportunity to visit Asia Park in Da Nang back in 2018 and again recently in 2024, and it’s clear that the park has lost its charm since the pandemic. Many of the major attractions, particularly the most impressive ones, are either closed or under restoration, which can leave a bitter taste if you pay full price, as the current offering is significantly reduced.
What may seem like a downside also has its advantage: the park is relatively empty, especially during weekdays. If, like me, you enjoy avoiding crowds, this tranquility can actually be quite pleasant. My 3-year-old son had fun on rides suited for his age, but honestly, if you go with teenagers, they might quickly get bored due to the lack of thrilling attractions.
That said, at 250,000 VND (€9) for access to the entire park, it remains very affordable.
Personally, the main attraction is still the Sun Wheel, which offers a breathtaking view of Da Nang from above.
Post-pandemic, Asia Park is far from as vibrant as it was at its peak. If you’re looking for thrill rides or a wide variety of attractions, you may be disappointed. However, the park remains a good option for families with young children thanks to its calm atmosphere and kid-friendly rides.
