Local bus between Da Nang and Hoi An and vice versa | Price & Tips (2024)
To travel from Hoi An to Danang, the cheapest way is to take the local bus.
Between 2020 and early 2024, there were more local buses between Hoi An and Da Nang, but since April 2024, there is a new bus line between Hoi An and Da Nang and vice versa.
In fact, it’s a public-private partnership between Danangbus (public buses in Da Nang) and the private company Futa Bus Lines, which is very popular in the south of Vietnam.
Unlike the old 40-seat buses, these are 20-seat shuttles, much more comfortable and clean.
Bus 2 therefore replaces bus 1 which previously covered this route.
Tickets are sold inside the bus, so there is no need to buy them beforehand.
Price of the Hoi An – Da Nang bus ticket
The bus journey from Hoi An to Da Nang is actually split into 2 trips:
- the LK-02 trip (Hoi An – Vietnam/Korea University in Da Nang) | Price: 15,000 VND
- the 02 trip (Vietnam/Korea University in Da Nang – Da Nang Bus Station) | Price: 20,000 VND
No tourist will stop at the Vietnam/Korea University, so the full trip will be Hoi An – Da Nang Bus Station (and a total of 35,000 VND per person – the combined price of the 2 trips).
Good news, you don’t have to change buses. It’s the same bus all along the trip.
Where to catch bus number 02 in Hoi An?
From Hoi An, the bus starts from 5 AM at Cua Dai port. It’s away from most hotels. I recommend taking the bus at the Hoi An bus station (Nguyen Tat Thanh). It’s easier to get there if you are in town and even from An Bang beach.
The little subtlety is that the bus does not stop at the bus station, that would be too simple, it stops at a new bus stop 50m from the bus station…
My Advice
Since there is no bus shelter, (just a bus stop sign), my advice is to wait in front of the Hoi An bus station on the road but sheltered from the sun and wave to the bus driver when he arrives and he will stop at your level.
Believe me, you don’t want to wait 15 – 30 minutes under 36 – 40 degrees or in the rain at the bus stop.
Departure times
Buses depart from Hoi An or Da Nang every 15 to 30 minutes. There are about 35km between Danang – Hoi An and it takes about 45 minutes for the complete journey.

Bus stop at the Marble Mountains in Da Nang
If you want to go to the Marble Mountains by bus, good news, there is a stop nearby (Koi Resort Da Nang). Ask the driver to get off at Ngu Hanh Son (the Vietnamese name for the Marble Mountains). The drivers do not speak English.
The bus fare from Hoi An to the Marble Mountains is 35,000 VND per person. You should count the return at the same price, thus a total of 70,000 VND per person.
Bus Stop for Da Nang Station
The nearest stop to the station is at 227 Nguyen Tat Thanh, about 5 minutes from the station.
My Opinion
Unlike the old buses, there is a real qualitative leap and it’s much more pleasant to travel from Hoi An to Da Nang with these new buses. Especially with Futa, the prices are clearly displayed inside the bus.
One of the major drawbacks is that it does not serve either the Da Nang train station or the Da Nang airport since it bypasses the city center.
If you arrive in Da Nang by bus, this is the best and cheapest way to get to Hoi An.
Just took the O2-LK combo ride (75 minutes in total) from 227 Nguyen Tat Thanh to Cui Da.
A surcharge of 1 ticket is added for passengers carrying more than 10 kgs. Of luggage or sized more than 30 x 60 x 40 cm.
We were 2 passengers, so we paid 106,000 (3 tickets and 1000 VND handling fee).
All went very well and undoubtedly – it is the cheapest way to get to Hoi An town from Danang station. (We took a Xanh cab each way to/from the bus stop as my mum is elderly – however, it is walkable distances).
Many thanks for your information!
Thank you for your message.
I had asked the bus driver about luggage and he told me there was no extra charge.
I’ll find out and update my article.
Does this bus stop near Han market?
Hi,
Bus number 2 doesn’t go into town, it bypasses the town via the beach.
Thank you, very helpful!
Managed to get to Hoi An by finding the bus at Da Nang bus station but for the way back, this was article was very helpful. Thanks, Laurent! I started waiting at the bus stop sign at 11:30 and the shade of the tree there sufficed during that time.
